Engineering programmes

Designed to equip students with strong foundation in computing subjects such as computational thinking, dynamic web programming and artificial intelligence. The focus is to develop robust problem-solving abilities, high-competency and professional approach in software development. The programme also aims to boost employability skills by including interdisciplinary topics for future managers.

FALL 2022

Y3 Engineering

Aims of the Programme:

The Semester of Year 3 of Engineering aims to equip students with strong foundation in computing subjects such as computational thinking, dynamic web programming and artificial intelligence. The focus is to develop robust problem-solving abilities, high-competency and professional approach in software development.

The programme also aims to boost the employability skills by including the interdisciplinary topics for future managers: leadership, written and oral communication, finance and entrepreneurship along with operational mathematics.

This programme offers students:

  • A distinctive computer-focused curriculum – students engage in experiential, experimental and collaborative learning using a variety of computer languages and mathematical tools.
  • An applied experience – students work on hands-on real-life projects developing all the skills needed in problem solving.
  • An introduction on management – students get fundamental knowledge and abilities in leadership, finance and entrepreneurship.
  • An enhancement of employability skills – students learn and experience a wide range of skills that employers are looking for (teamwork, communication, critical reflexion, intellectual curiosity and organisation)
  • Study abroad experience – students develop their autonomy by living in a foreign country.

Y2 Programming

Aims of the Programme:

The Semester of Year 2 of Engineering aims to equip students with in-depth understanding of computing subjects such as object-oriented programming and cloud computing. The focus is to develop robust problem-solving abilities, high-competency and professional approach in software development.

The programme also aims to boost the employability skills by including the interdisciplinary topics like advanced English and public speaking modules.

This programme offers students:

  • A distinctive computer-focused curriculum – students engage in experiential, experimental and collaborative learning using a variety of computer languages and advanced technology tools.
  • An applied experience – students work on hands-on real-life projects developing all the skills needed in problem solving.
  • English language skills– students get advanced knowledge and abilities to speak and write using English language.
  • An enhancement of employability skills – students learn and experience a wide range of skills that employers are looking for (teamwork, communication, critical reflexion, intellectual curiosity and organisation).

Master Brand Building & Digital Experience

Aims of the Programme:

The focus in this semester of Year 3 of International Business is on developing the student abilities to provide in-depth work and lead with advanced tools and techniques in a multinational business or international start-up. It will provide an advanced level in business and management principles from a UK and international perspective, as well as analysing and evaluating contemporary issues related to internationalisation and globalisation.

This programme offers students:

  • Employability skills with the ability to critically reflect and apply them with optimal outcomes – students learn about and develop a wide range of skills that employers value, such as teamwork, communication, critical and creative thinking, intellectual curiosity, and project management.
  • Perspective and experience – students develop a wide range and advanced learning on global issues and projects.
  • An in-depth study into international relations and international media to critically apply this knowledge into a constantly changing world.
  • A strong focus on management and entrepreneurship, including sustainability and soft skills – students are required to critically reflect and perform on financial diagnostic, branding, innovation, strategy, and ethics.
  • A distinctive broad curriculum and the opportunity to choose between 3 pathways (Finance, Marketing or Entrepreneurship) – students engage in experiential, experimental and collaborative learning through a variety of appropriate modules. Students will have to further demonstrate their analytical and implementation skills by having to work on a start-up project in the UK and being constantly challenged by seasoned international professionals.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT Programmes

The highly interactive sessions, led by experienced practitioners, focus on developing core skills and strong problem-solving skills applicable to a wide range of careers across business sector including finance, marketing and entrepreneurship.

Master Corporate Finance & Private Equity

Aims of the Programme:

The Master’s in Finance semester in London aims to equip students with in-depth grounding in the field of corporate finance and private equity. The breadth of modules offers the opportunity to gain deeper practical insights and provides links to London’s financial ecosystem.

The highly interactive sessions, led by experienced practitioners in corporate finance and banking, focus on developing core skills and strong problem-solving skills applicable to a wide range of careers across the financial sector, including audit/accountancy, M&A, private equity and finance within a corporation.

This programme offers students: 

  • A distinctive broad curriculum – students gain detailed knowledge of the operations and activities of the banking industry, private equity and alternative investments, exposure to specific industries (real estate, infrastructure, and renewables) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues in banking. Students will also review in detail some of the key Corporate Finance products including M&A, equity & debt capital markets, corporate restructuring and distressed debt.
  • An applied experience – students work on applying knowledge of core and specialised aspects of the finance industry on case studies relevant to today’s corporate world developing relevant skills required in problem solving. 
  • An enhancement of employability skills – students learn and experience a wide range of skills that employers are looking for (teamwork, communication, critical reflexion, intellectual curiosity and organisation). 
  • Study abroad experience – students develop their autonomy by living in a foreign country and by exploring a sector which is enshrined in the history of London and which represents a significant and important share of the UK and international economy.

Y2 International Business London Focus

Aims of the Programme:

The focus in this semester of Year 2 of International Business is on developing student abilities to work and lead in multinational businesses or international start-ups. It will provide a foundation in business and management principles from a London and UK perspective, as well as addressing contemporary issues related to internationalisation and globalisation.

This programme offers students:

  • Enhanced employability skills – students learn about and develop a wide range of skills that employers value, such as teamwork, communication, critical reflexion, intellectual curiosity and project management.
  • Perspective and experience – students relate the learning to global developments and to both London and UK perspectives.
  • An introduction to international relations – a diplomacy exercise takes students on a learning journey relating to stakeholder interactions in national and foreign policy.
  • A focus on ethics and sustainability – students are challenged to consider the wider responsibilities that business has to society and the environment, in particular via the UN Sustainable Development Goals certificate.
  • A distinctive broad curriculum – students engage in experiential, experimental and collaborative learning through a variety of modules to prepare them for an organisational environment, including an intensive 5-day Crisis Management case study.

Master Investment Management & Capital Markets

Aims of the Programme:

The Master’s in Finance semester in London aims to equip students with in-depth grounding in the field of investment management and capital markets and aims to impart a broader understanding of the global financial markets. The breadth of modules offers the opportunity to gain deeper practical insights and provides links to London’s financial markets ecosystem.

The highly interactive sessions, led by experienced practitioners in investment banking, asset management and related fields, focus on developing core skills and strong problem-solving skills applicable to a wide range of careers across the financial sector including sales and trading, research, private equity and asset management. 

Programme Benefits:

This programme offers students: 

  • A distinctive broad curriculum – students gain detailed knowledge of the operations and activities of asset & investment management, sales & trading and the banking industry, in addition to private equity and alternative investments.  Students will also review in detail some of the key principles of institutional investments, the workings of equity & debt capital markets, derivatives & options, and an understanding of alternative investments.
  • An applied experience – students work on applying knowledge of core and specialised aspects of the finance industry on case studies relevant to today’s corporate world developing relevant skills required in problem solving.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn about sustainable finance, and the principles behind investment decisions that consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
  • An enhancement of employability skills – students learn and experience a wide range of skills that employers are looking for (teamwork, communication, critical & logic-based reflection, intellectual curiosity and organisation). 
  • Study abroad experience – students develop their autonomy by living in a foreign country and by exploring a sector which is enshrined in the history of London and which represents a significant and important share of the UK and international economy.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS pROGRAMME

Designed to give students an in-depth knowledge of the various factors – economic, political, technological, and cultural – affecting international relations, each course taught by experts in the relevant areas. Y3 International Relations

Aims of the Programme:

The goal of the Semester of Year 3 of International Relations is to give students an in-depth knowledge of the various factors – economic, political, technological, and cultural – affecting international relations, each course taught by experts in the relevant areas.

The programme takes full advantage of its location in London, a major world city, and includes cultural visits across the city and in-depth discussion of both domestic and global British politics.

Programme Benefits:

This programme offers students:

  • A distinctive broad curriculum – students engage in experiential, experimental and collaborative learning through a variety of modules. Students experience an intensive week of a diplomacy game, themed around Middle Eastern security and geopolitics, intended to act as an immersive and innovative way of thinking through the issues that the region faces.
  • An enhancement of employability skills – students learn and practise a wide range of skills that employers are looking for (teamwork, communication, critical reflexion, intellectual curiosity and organisation). There will be a strong emphasis on developing critical thinking skills and the ability to engage in debate, research, and construct logical and persuasive arguments. Students will also have a valuable opportunity to build contacts in business and academia.
  • A perspective and experience – the opportunity to relate what students learn to global developments and to learn from London and British perspectives and experiences.
  • An emphasis on the control and dissemination of information, highlighting issues such as online propaganda, radicalization, and conspiracy theories; OSINT; censorship; corporate control of the media; privacy concerns, surveillance technology, and “smart cities”; and the challenges and opportunities facing modern journalism.
  • A course on world religions offering a mixture of historical information and discussion with a focus on exploring and understanding modern-day London-based religious groups and subcultures such as the Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, ISKCON, Sufis, etc. The requirement to personally attend a service or ceremony held by one of these groups and to interview participants afterwards will build the students’ confidence and help them understand other perspectives.
  • Study abroad experience – students develop their autonomy and practise their English skills by living in a foreign country and attending classes taught entirely through English.
